Hebel Carving Workshop

A two day Hebel carving for beginners workshop, was conducted by Robert Boldkald, in association with the West Tamar Arts Group, in the bush setting at the Girl Guide property Nindethana, Deviot, 26-27 March 2011.  At the end of the workshop, the participants were well on their way to having completed their carving, and spoke excitedly about participating in future workshops.

Robert said, ‘Hebel is a fantastic product to learn basic carving skills.  Because Hebel is aerated concrete, it is lightweight, making it easy for everyone to cut, shape and smooth.  Results happen quickly compared to working in stone or wood and a variety of finishes can be applied to the finished work.

Congratulations to all the ‘Hebel novices’ who took part in the workshop.  It was great to see everyone eager to learn and make art in a material they had never worked with before.  This happy bunch of carvers created a wonderfully diverse assortment of work.’
